Anti-Corruption Commission Requests Former IGP Benazir Ahmed's Extradition from Dubai
দুবাই পুলিশের হাতে গ্রেপ্তার বাংলাদেশ পুলিশের সাবেক মহাপরিদর্শক (আইজিপি) বেনজীর আহমেদকে দেশে ফিরিয়ে আনতে প্রয়োজনীয় নথিপত্র প্রস্তুতের কাজ শেষ করেছে দুর্নীতি দমন কমিশন (দুদক)। আজ মঙ্গলবার একটি অনুরোধপত্র চূড়ান্ত করে সেটি স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়ে পাঠানো হয়েছে। তদন্তসংশ্লিষ্ট দুদকের উপপরিচালক মো. হাফিজুল ইসলাম প্রথম আলোকে বলেন, অনুরোধপত্র তৈরির কাজ শেষ হয়েছে। সেটি স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়ে পাঠানো হয়েছে। তদন্তসংশ্লিষ্ট একটি সূত্র বলেছে, বেনজীর আহমেদের বিরুদ্ধে দুর্নীতি, অবৈধ সম্পদ অর্
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has finalized documents to request the extradition of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed, who was arrested in Dubai. The ACC has sent a request letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs, which will then forward it to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for diplomatic channels to the UAE government. Ahmed, arrested on June 12, faces multiple charges including corruption, illegal wealth acquisition, money laundering, and passport forgery. The ACC has compiled evidence from six corruption and forgery cases against him. He fled the country with his family in May 2024, shortly after corruption allegations surfaced and the ACC began its investigation.
The ACC's request for Benazir Ahmed's extradition signifies a major step in holding the former IGP accountable for alleged corruption and illegal wealth accumulation.
