Mozambique's Council of Ministers has approved a proposal to revise the current Road Code, aiming to align it with modern traffic dynamics, technological advancements, and sustainable mobility. Key innovations include enhanced enforcement mechanisms, harmonization with penal laws, introduction of surveillance cameras, and inclusion of new vehicle types like electric and hybrid models, along with a points-based driver's license system. Additionally, new regulations for industrial licensing were approved, replacing an older decree. These updates intend to modernize the industrial licensing framework, improve safety and environmental standards, reduce processing times, and enhance legal compliance. The government anticipates these measures will increase predictability and legal certainty in industrial licensing, fostering better compliance and consolidating the national industrial registry.
The approval of revised road safety laws and updated industrial licensing regulations signifies Mozambique's commitment to modernizing its infrastructure and economic sectors.
