Maida Gorčević, Montenegro's Minister of European Affairs, stated in Luxembourg that the country is actively contributing to strengthening democratic resilience within the European Union framework, even before formal membership. Participating in a ministerial discussion on the European Democratic Shield and resilience, Gorčević presented Montenegro's experiences in enhancing democratic institutions, electoral processes, and the information space. She emphasized that Montenegro aligns its foreign and security policy with the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy and actively pursues shared objectives. Gorčević stressed that democracy, rule of law, and European values are foundational to Montenegro's progress, not merely accession criteria. Montenegro has established a coordination body to counter foreign information influence and is bolstering capacities in electoral integrity, media freedom, and cybersecurity.
Montenegro's active contribution to EU democratic resilience, as stated by Minister Gorčević, highlights its commitment to European values and cooperation beyond formal membership.
