Call for Zero Customs Duty on Stainless Steel to Boost Economy
Ev ve Mutfak Eşyaları Federasyonu (EVFED) Yönetim Kurulu Başkanı Güçlü Kaplangı, paslanmaz çeliğe uygulanan gümrük vergisinin sıfırlanmasının Türkiye ekonomisine 5 yılda en az 2 milyar dolarlık katkı sağlayabileceğini söyledi. Bloomberg HT’ye konuşan Kaplangı, mevcut vergi yükünün üretim maliyetlerini artırarak ihracatı baskıladığını, buna karşın ithalatı teşvik ettiğini belirtti.
Güçlü Kaplangı, Chairman of the Federation of Home and Kitchenware Manufacturers (EVFED), proposes eliminating customs duty on stainless steel, estimating it could contribute at least $2 billion to the Turkish economy over five years. Kaplangı argues that current tax burdens increase production costs, hindering exports while encouraging imports. Removing the duty would enhance competitiveness and stimulate domestic production. This measure is seen as crucial for boosting the stainless steel sector and its related industries. The proposal aims to foster economic growth and improve trade balance. Implementing this change could lead to significant benefits for Turkish manufacturers and the overall economy.
