University of Dschang Advocates for Open Science at CRUFAOCI Assembly in Abidjan

The University Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan hosted the General Assembly of the Conference of Rectors of Francophone Universities of Africa and the Indian Ocean (CRUFAOCI) from June 10-12, 2026, with a focus on open science. Professor Roger Tsafack Nanfosso, Rector of the University of Dschang and President of CRUFAOCI, championed an ambitious vision for African higher education centered on shared access to knowledge and international research visibility. The assembly, attended by nearly 70 participants from about twenty countries, discussed the transformation of African higher education through open science. Under Nanfosso's leadership, CRUFAOCI has expanded its network and strengthened its governance. The organization has also become a signatory to the 'Cape Town Call,' advocating for open science as a tool for enhancing university outreach and international recognition. Open science is now considered a strategic lever for African universities.
This initiative by CRUFAOCI, led by the University of Dschang, promotes open science as a crucial strategy for advancing African higher education and research.
