Cameroon has collected over 15 billion FCFA in transit fees from Chadian oil between January and May 2026, demonstrating the significant contribution of the Chad-Cameroon pipeline to public finances. By the end of April, transit revenues had already reached 12.15 billion FCFA, an 11% increase compared to the same period in the previous year. This growth is attributed to sustained high volumes of crude oil transported through the pipeline, which connects Chadian oil fields to the Kribi offshore terminal. Operational since 2003, the pipeline remains a vital energy infrastructure in the sub-region, facilitating the export of Chadian oil and providing Cameroon with regular revenue. The pipeline's economic importance is underscored by its contribution to state non-fiscal revenues, positioning Cameroon as a key energy corridor in Central Africa.
The Chad-Cameroon pipeline's substantial transit revenue highlights its critical role in supporting Cameroon's public finances and its position as a vital energy infrastructure in Central Africa.
