Twic Mayardit youth group welcomes release of detained senior officials

The Twic Mayardit Youth Association for Development in Juba has welcomed the release of Major General Manasa Machar Bol Yai, Brigadier General Angelo Kuot Garang Kuot, and Ambassador Rita Lotua from National Security detention. The association described the decision as a positive step towards national unity, reconciliation, and stability in South Sudan. Speaking during a press conference in Juba, Chairperson of the Twic Mayardit Association for Development, Daniel Kur Bol Kur, said the release reflects leadership committed to peace and social cohesion. “We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Major General Manasseh Mesharbolei, Brigadier General Angelo K. Garamquad, and Ambassador Rita Lutua upon regaining their freedom. We wish them good health, wisdom, and success as they continue contributing to the service and development of our country,” Daniel Kur Bol Kur said. He further called for the release of other individuals still in detention. “We urge His Excellency to also release Ambassador Jing, former Executive Director in the Office of the President. We also urge His Excellency the President to release Major General Dominic Djungchom, former Executive Director in the Office of the President, Madam Achana Gonachich, former advisor to the First Lady of the Republic of South Sudan, activist William Deng Dudukor, and the rest of South Sudanese who are still under the detention of the government,” Daniel Kur Bol Kur said. The association said the releases have brought relief and renewed hope to families, friends, and communities of those freed, adding that the move strengthens trust and unity among citizens. It also called for continued efforts toward reconciliation and national harmony, urging leaders and citizens to uphold compassion, understanding, and collective responsibility. The group reaffirmed its commitment to supporting peacebuilding, unity, and development initiatives across the country.
