German Bathing Waters Receive High Marks in European Environmental Agency Report

A report by the European Environment Agency (EEA) indicates that Germany's bathing waters, including lakes, rivers, and coastal areas, maintain excellent quality. Out of nearly 2,300 monitored sites in Germany, 90.9% were rated as excellent, placing the country seventh among 29 analyzed nations. Cyprus and Greece led the rankings for water quality. The report, which assessed over 22,000 bathing sites across the EU, Albania, and Switzerland, found that nearly 85% of EU bathing waters had excellent quality. Only a small fraction received poor ratings. The overall quality of bathing waters in Europe has significantly improved over the decades due to better wastewater treatment.
The report confirms high water quality in German bathing areas, promoting public health and recreational opportunities.
