Karnataka CM Urges Medical Graduates to Focus on Rural Healthcare Services
A total of 103 students were awarded gold medals for scoring the highest marks in various disciplines; more than 72,000 were awarded degrees.
Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has urged medical and nursing graduates to prioritize providing healthcare services in rural areas, emphasizing the need to bridge the gap between urban and rural healthcare access. Speaking at the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences convocation, he highlighted Karnataka's position as a leading state in health sciences education, producing a large number of graduates annually. Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil announced plans to establish cancer hospitals, medical colleges, and trauma care centers in every district to ensure quality and affordable healthcare for all citizens. The CM stressed the importance of rural healthcare to prevent migration to urban centers for treatment.
