A complaint has been lodged at Ernakulam Central police station by K. S. Arun Kumar, a member of the CPI (M) Ernakulam district secretariat against individuals who have been spreading falsehoods attributed to the CPI(M) State Secretary, M.V. Govindan, using his picture.
The falsehoods related to the free travel in KSRTC buses that the government has launched . The statements attributed to Mr. Govindan, that CPI(M) women will not accept any charity from the government and that they will travel in buses only after paying for tickets, is false and baseless, Mr. Arunkumar said .
He has filed complaints against social media profiles of Kavitha Suresh, Tomy Verananickal, Jils Gils that they were creating fake news and publicising it through social media. He sought immediate steps to stop the spread of such falsehood and sought legal action against these persons under the provisions of the BNS
