The Karimnagar Police Commissionerate’s Task Force personnel have seized two huge sand dumps at separate places in Kothapalli mandal in Karimnagar district. Acting on a tip-off, the Task Force police led by Assistant Commissioner of Police V. Satish conducted surprise raids at Ramulapalli and Shanthinagar on Tuesday. The police unearthed illegal sand dumps and seized nearly 80 tractor-loads of sand from the two sites. Vigil has been intensified across the catchment areas of Manair river and elsewhere in the district to curb illegal mining and transportation of sand. Meanwhile, a delegation of Congress leaders led by the Karimnagar City Congress president V. Anjan Kumar submitted a memorandum to the Revenue officials on Tuesday seeking urgent steps to tide over shortage of sand for construction of Indiramma houses. The Congress delegation comprised several corporators of Karimnagar Municipal Corporation. The delegation highlighted the woes of beneficiaries of Indiramma houses due to shortage of sand and sought immediate measures to address the issue.
