DAR ES SALAAM : IN its efforts to ensure citizens continue to access specialized and super-specialized healthcare services, the Tanzanian government, through the Ministry of Health, has launched a book titled The Journey of Heart Transplantation in Tanzania. Minister of Health Mohamed Mchengerwa highlighted the government's commitment to investing in specialized healthcare services, including heart disease treatment. The Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI) is commended for its progress in cardiac care. Heart transplantation is presented as a critical step towards reducing the need for overseas treatment and increasing access to advanced medical services within the country. Dr. Everist Nyawawa of JKCI noted that approximately 64 million people worldwide suffer from heart conditions requiring transplantation, emphasizing the importance of developing infrastructure and expertise locally.
