Rising Australian athletics star Gout Gout and American champion Noah Lyles have hugged it out after their first run against each other saw the 150m world record broken.
The pair celebrated wildly after the 150m clash at the Ostrava Golden Spike event in Czechia as Lyles broke the record with a time of 14.67 seconds.
Gout came third, finishing strong to clock a personal best time of 14.96, which is also a national record.
Sinesipho Dambile of South Africa finished second in 14.78, also beating the previous best.
The run came after a tough start to Gout's Diamond League campaign in Oslo last week, where he finished sixth in the 200m.
"This is definitely a race I was needing after Oslo, and I am glad I got it, and I am ready for more," Gout told Australian track and field Straight At It.
"Usually when I get a bad start it's hard for me to come back, but today I got an OK start and I brought it home.
Lyles, who had dinner with Gout the night before their race, said the pair was always going to put on a show.
"Was there ever any doubt? Was there ever any doubt? We came for a show," he said.
