SADC Ministers to meet in Zimbabwe to drive regional infrastructure, AI integration

Channel Africa The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat will convene a high-level ministerial cluster meeting in Bulawayo next week to co-ordinate policies on regional transport, communications and climate resilience. Scheduled to run from June 22 to 26, 2026, the summit brings together Ministers and senior policymakers from all member states. The sessions will be chaired by South Africa’s Transport Minister, Barbara Creecy, in her capacity as the head of the SADC Committee of Ministers for Transport, ICT, Information, and Meteorology. Hosted by the Zimbabwean government across three key ministries, the engagement focuses on harmonising policies to boost regional trade and update cross-border systems. Top of the agenda is the modernisation of regional transport corridors and the acceleration of digital transformation across Southern Africa. Amid worsening weather patterns in the region, the delegation will look into strengthening meteorological services to build better climate resilience. Additionally, Ministers will explore the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to optimize infrastructure development and improve regional systems.
