FNB and CPBN Forge Partnership to Boost Efficiency and Transparency in Namibia’s Public Procurement

First National Bank Namibia (FNB) and the Central Procurement Board of Namibia (CPBN) have announced a collaboration aimed at streamlining the country’s public procurement system. The partnership focuses on improving efficiency, transparency, and accountability by addressing delays in project implementation and simplifying the issuance of performance guarantees. During a stakeholder meeting in Windhoek, FNB’s enterprise banking head, Leonard Hamunyela, explained the end‑to‑end process for performance guarantees, including application, documentation, credit assessment, and standard timelines. Both parties identified common challenges faced by bidders and agreed on the need for tighter cooperation between financial institutions and procurement authorities to remove bottlenecks. FNB highlighted its commitment to simplifying the guarantee process to enable businesses to participate with greater certainty and support timely public project delivery. The partnership is part of FNB’s broader strategy to unlock practical solutions that enhance participation, growth, and the overall value chain of Namibia’s procurement system.
