Andhra Pradesh is exploring institutional partnerships with leading Singapore-based organisations to support the development of Amaravati and strengthen sustainable urban infrastructure, following a high-level visit by the State’s Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) delegation.
On Wednesday, the delegation led by MA&UD Minister P. Narayana, held discussions with the NUS Cities of the National University of Singapore, Surbana Jurong Innovation Hub, and Singapore's National Environment Agency (NEA) to examine potential collaborations in urban planning, climate resilience, digital governance and scientific solid waste management.
A key outcome of the visit was the exploration of a knowledge partnership with the NUS Cities, including proposals for an Urban Futures Lab, executive training programmes, climate resilience studies, digital twin applications and data-driven planning systems for Amaravati.
The team also studied Singapore's integrated urban development model at the Surbana Jurong Innovation District and visited the Tuas South Incineration Plant to understand waste-to-energy technologies, resource recovery systems and landfill reduction strategies.
Mr. Narayana said the State aimed to build clean, green and economically productive cities by adapting global best practices to local requirements.
Principal Secretary S. Suresh Kumar said the engagements opened avenues for technical collaboration, capacity building, and pilot projects to advance Amaravati and other urban centres in Andhra Pradesh.
