The mortality rate at the Mysuru unit of Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research stood at 5.98% during the first 16 days of June, slightly higher than the hospital’s mortality rates recorded in 2025 and during the first five months of 2026, according to hospital statistics.
Data shared by Medical Superintendent K.S. Sadananda showed that 12,273 outpatients visited the hospital between June 1 and 16, while 1,037 patients were admitted for treatment. Of those admitted, 62 patients died, resulting in the 5.98% mortality rate.
The hospital recorded eight deaths on June 16 and four deaths on June 15. On June 16 alone, the mortality rate among admitted patients was 10.39%.
Statistics indicate that the hospital attended to between 600 and 1,000 outpatients daily during the period. Deaths were reported on each day from June 1 to 16, with the highest number of deaths — eight each — recorded on June 9 and June 16. The highest daily mortality rate during the period was reported on June 8, at 12.31%.
Hospital records show that in 2025, the institute registered 1,245 deaths among 21,577 admissions, resulting in an annual mortality rate of 5.77%. The hospital handled nearly 2.4 lakh outpatients during the year.
Between January and May 2026, the hospital recorded 499 deaths among 9,461 admitted patients, translating into a mortality rate of 5.27%. During the same period, the institute treated 1,00,630 outpatients. The figures further show that the hospital has been handling around 20,000 to 21,000 out-patients every month this year.
