Well Wales will become the first country in the world to remove its politicians for deliberately lying. It’s not about punishment, it is about politicians knowingly misleading the public and facing real consequences for it. The Government has committed to bringing forward rules that could disqualify Senedd members and election candidates found guilty of deliberate deception through an independent process. This could involve sanctions, suspension, recall and in serious cases, removal from office .It is a historic step toward restoring trust in politics. The Welsh say democracy cannot work if politicians are allowed to knowingly lie without consequence. If ordinary people can lose their jobs for lying at work why should politicians be exempt? Can’t see it working here. Already some of our Members would be quaking if we had such rules.

Former British PM, Iron Lady, Margaret Thatcher, contended that countries are not naturally rich in proportion to their natural resources. Countries like Russia have everything. Many would say PNG is similarly blessed with oil, gas, timber, copper, gold, marine resources, agricultural resources and fertile land etc. She said man makes a country wealthy, not resources. Countries with no resources like Switzerland, Taiwan and Singapore lead the world because of the ability and acumen of their people. PNG needs to learn that lesson.

So who will run the National Election in 2027 ? The current Acting Electoral Commissioners temporary appointment ended on May 20th . That appointment was for six months. So why no appointment yet? They have had since November 2025 to make a decision. What has happened? Is that promised Artificial Intelligence machine that does appointments broken again? The truth more likely is that there are considerable political manoeuvres going on in the background. The politicians would much prefer a malleable person in the position running our election. Get on with it! The EC has hardly covered itself in glory in the past. The country is watching and will consider a proper, professional appointment as the first sign we can expect a free and fair NGE2027.
