New Chord Line Project to Slash Dhaka-Chattagram Train Travel to 3.5 Hours
বর্তমানে সড়কপথে ঢাকা–চট্টগ্রামের দূরত্ব ২৪৮ কিলোমিটার হলেও রেলপথে তা ৩২০ কিলোমিটার। ঢাকা থেকে চট্টগ্রাম ট্রেনে এই পথ যেতে এখন সময় লাগে পাঁচ থেকে ছয় ঘণ্টা। এই দীর্ঘ যাত্রাপথ ছোট করতে আবারও সামনে এসেছে বহু দিনের আলোচিত ঢাকা–কুমিল্লা কর্ড লাইন বা সরাসরি সংযোগ রেলপথ প্রকল্প। প্রস্তাবিত বাজেটে প্রকল্পটির ঘোষণা দিয়েছেন অর্থমন্ত্রী আমির খসরু মাহমুদ চৌধুরী। রেলওয়ের কর্মকর্তাদের মতে, এ প্রকল্প বাস্তবায়িত হলে ঢাকা–চট্টগ্রাম রেলপথ প্রায় ৮০ কিলোমিটার কমে যাবে এবং যাত্রার সময় নেমে আসবে সা
