The Balochistan government has presented a Rs1.13 trillion budget for fiscal year 2026-27, projecting a surplus of Rs45.57 billion for the sixth consecutive year. However, overall development expenditure has been cut to Rs291.55 billion. The budget, presented by Provincial Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, prioritizes welfare, sustainable development, job creation, and basic services, with significant allocations for education (Rs157.29bn) and health (Rs74bn). Despite efforts to boost local revenue, the province remains heavily reliant on federal transfers, expecting Rs800.13bn from the National Finance Commission Award. Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti described the budget as balanced and people-friendly. Key initiatives include activating 1,200 schools and making 164 non-functional basic health units operational.
