Tajikistan Detains Man Suspected of Organizing Illegal Migration to Slovakia

Authorities in Tajikistan have arrested a man from Vahdat city, identified as Holmad Tagoybekov, also known as Khoji Kholmand. He is suspected of orchestrating illegal migration, having allegedly promised jobs in Slovakia to 22 citizens. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), Tagoybekov transported the individuals to Tashkent, where they waited for approximately 20 days. They were promised employment in Europe after completing driving courses and obtaining necessary documents. After paying over $700 each, they received cards and chips intended for Slovakian employment, which only worked within Uzbekistan. After seven months, none had been sent to Europe. Victims reportedly spent over 12,000 somoni each on documentation, travel, and living expenses. Tagoybekov allegedly received an additional 1,300 somoni from each victim. The suspect has a prior criminal record, having been prosecuted four times previously. Investigations are ongoing.
