Actor Jahir Alvi Arrested and Sent to Jail on Charges of Inciting Wife's Suicide

Popular television actor Jahir Alvi (Niamat Ullah Bhuiyan) has been arrested and remanded to jail after his bail application was rejected in connection with his wife Afra Ivnath Khan Ikra's alleged suicide. The case involves accusations that Alvi's alleged long-standing domestic disputes and various forms of torture drove his wife to commit suicide. Ikra was found deceased in their Mirpur DOHS residence on February 28th. Alvi, who was reportedly in Nepal at the time, faces charges of abetment to suicide. The couple married in 2010 and have a child. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ikra's death is ongoing.
