European Union governments and MEPs have reached an agreement mandating that hand baggage be included in the price of airline tickets for flights to and from EU countries. Starting next year, passengers will be entitled to bring two pieces of hand luggage without additional charges. Airlines must now display ticket prices with included hand baggage, though passengers can opt out for a lower fare. The agreement also prohibits extra fees for parents sitting with children or accompanying disabled individuals. Furthermore, new rules update passenger rights and compensation for flight delays or cancellations, offering €250 to €600 depending on flight length. Airlines may reduce compensation by 50% for long-haul flights if an alternative flight is offered or if the issue stems from extraordinary circumstances.
New EU regulations will ensure free hand baggage on flights and establish compensation limits for flight delays and cancellations.
