The Higher Court in Belgrade has sentenced the parents of Kosta Kecmanović, the minor who perpetrated a tragic school shooting at Vladislav Ribnikar Elementary School on May 3, 2023. Vladimir Kecmanović received a sentence of 14 years and six months for charges including neglect and abuse of a minor, and grave offenses against public safety. Miljana Kecmanović was sentenced to two years and 11 months for neglect and abuse of a minor. This is the second-instance verdict, and both parties have the right to appeal to the Court of Appeals. The prosecution had sought maximum sentences. The retrial was ordered after the Court of Appeals overturned a previous conviction.
Parents of the student responsible for the 'Ribnikar' school massacre have been sentenced to prison for neglect and abuse of a minor.
