Spain's Tax Agency (Hacienda) informed a judge in February that it had opened an investigation into Fernando Camino, an executive at the Quirónsalud group. The investigation concerns an alleged commission of €500,000 related to a mask sale. Hacienda communicated this to the judge investigating Alberto González Amador, the partner of Madrid's regional president Isabel Díaz Ayuso, believing it falls under his investigative purview. The suspicion is that Amador paid Camino this sum in December 2020 as a favor for facilitating a mask deal months earlier, from which Amador allegedly profited €2 million.
The tax investigation into a Quirón executive over a mask commission highlights potential corruption and financial irregularities linked to public health contracts during the pandemic.
