Police Arrest Couple Accused of Torturing Domestic Worker in Khulna

A police couple has been arrested in Khulna following accusations of torturing their domestic worker. The victim, a 22-year-old woman, reportedly sustained burns from a hot frying pan after allegedly dropping food. The alleged perpetrators are Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sanjay Mitra and his wife, Papi Mitra, who are reportedly posted at the Sonadanga Model Police Station. The victim's mother filed a case against the couple on Thursday morning. The injured domestic worker has been admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital for treatment. ASI Mitra has been presented before the court, while his wife is receiving medical attention in a prison cell due to illness. Local residents reported ongoing abuse, including beatings and forced exercises.
