The Central Securities Depository (CSD) of Macedonia will implement a new safekeeping fee for portfolios exceeding 1 million euros, effective January 1, 2027. This change, approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission, aligns with practices in many European depository institutions. The CSD emphasizes that this fee will only affect approximately 1% of all securities holders in the country. The new tariff model also includes the elimination of an existing fee paid by securities issuers, aiming for a more equitable cost distribution. These revisions are intended to ensure the sustainable financing of the CSD's infrastructure and its alignment with European standards. The CSD manages securities ownership records, facilitates transaction settlements, and executes corporate actions for joint-stock companies.
