Ilcho Gjorgioski, a former president of the Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM), has been arrested as part of a large-scale operation targeting organized crime and corruption. The arrest occurred during searches conducted at multiple locations across the country under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime and Corruption. Gjorgioski faces charges related to tax evasion and falsification or destruction of business records during his tenure at the FFM. A criminal complaint filed in 2019 alleged that inaccurate financial statements were submitted, resulting in unpaid profit taxes and an unlawful financial gain for the federation. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the ongoing operation. This arrest follows the recent detention of another former FFM president, Muamed Sejdini.
