Uganda and Hangzhou Forge Tourism Partnerships to Boost Investment and Cultural Exchange
Officials said the agreements are expected to increase tourism flows between the two countries
Uganda and the Chinese city of Hangzhou have signed several cooperation agreements aimed at enhancing tourism, investment, technology transfer, and hospitality development. These agreements were finalized following a tourism and investment conference in China. The "Pearl of Africa: Uganda–Hangzhou Tourism & Investment Conference" brought together officials and business leaders from both sides to explore collaborative opportunities. Uganda's Ambassador to China, Oliver Wonekha, and Deputy District Chief Lu Jun emphasized the importance of closer collaboration. Uganda highlighted investment opportunities in tourism, agriculture, manufacturing, and other sectors, leveraging its strategic location and policy reforms. Hangzhou's expertise in smart tourism, digital technologies, and investment capital is expected to support Uganda's tourism modernization. Memoranda of Understanding were signed covering hotel development, tourism promotion, and technology partnerships, aiming to increase travel and economic ties.
This collaboration between Uganda and Hangzhou signifies a strategic effort to boost tourism and investment, leveraging mutual strengths for economic development and cultural exchange.
