Expert Jorgić: Sale of Russian Stake in NIS Should Occur on Stock Exchange

Branislav Jorgić, an expert in stock market operations, stated that the sale of the majority Russian stake in Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS) should be conducted through the stock exchange according to current laws. He noted that the transaction's details are unclear due to limited information from Gazprom, Gazpromneft, MOL, and the Serbian government. Jorgić explained that as NIS is a publicly traded company, the sale should involve the Belgrade Stock Exchange, with quantities and prices disclosed. Ownership changes should then be registered with the Central Securities Registry. He suggested any other transaction method would require legislative changes.
