Zagreb Court Sentences Priest to 3 Years, 8 Months for Child Sexual Abuse
ZAGORSKI župnik Vladimir Vizir nepravomoćno je osuđen na 3 godine i 8 mjeseci zatvora zbog podvođenja maloljetnika, otkrivenog nakon pljačke.
The Municipal Court in Čakovec has handed down an initial sentence of three years and eight months in prison to a 63-year-old priest, identified as V.V., for four counts of child procurement, including facilitating sexual services from minors. The court also extended precautionary measures, prohibiting him from leaving his residence and approaching the victim within 100 meters, with no contact allowed. The priest was arrested in April of the previous year on suspicion of sexually abusing minors. Investigations revealed he allegedly used intermediaries to approach minors from the Roma community and paid them for sexual services. Searches of the parish house and other properties yielded evidence. The diocese expressed deep sympathy for victims of sexual abuse and affirmed its commitment to truth and justice.
The sentencing of a Croatian priest for child sexual abuse underscores the ongoing issue of abuse within religious institutions and the legal consequences faced by perpetrators.
