Greek taxpayers now have until December 31, 2026, to resolve tax disputes with the tax authorities through an out-of-court settlement mechanism, which includes significant reductions of up to 75% on additional taxes, interest, and penalties. This extension, part of a multi-bill from the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, applies to cases pending before administrative courts or the Council of State, as well as those previously rejected for formal reasons if new evidence emerges. The resolution process for applications submitted by the new deadline will conclude by July 31, 2027. This measure aims to alleviate the burden on taxpayers and streamline the dispute resolution process.
The extended deadline and fine reductions offer a crucial opportunity for taxpayers to settle long-standing tax disputes, potentially improving fiscal compliance and reducing litigation.
