RealSense D585 Pro: New AI-Native Depth Camera for Robotics Unveiled

RealSense has unveiled its new D585 Pro AI-native depth camera at Automate 2026. This camera integrates depth sensing, edge AI acceleration, and a software-defined platform designed for continuous improvement via SDK updates. Expected to ship in Q1 2027, it is targeted at humanoid robots, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), collaborative arms, and industrial inspection systems. The D585 Pro features a minimum range of under 15cm at full resolution, a wide 120x100° field of view, IP65 protection, and an onboard AI inference engine. Powered by a proprietary Gen 5 SoC, it reportedly offers double the depth quality of previous generations. On-device AI processing reduces reliance on host computing, enabling more intelligent robotic applications. RealSense CEO Nadav Orbach described it as the "Visual Cortex of Physical AI," allowing for adaptable perception platforms.
