Bangladesh Land Offices Implement CCTV Surveillance to Control Brokers, Minister Assures Transparency

Bangladesh's Minister of Land, Mizanur Rahman Minu, announced in parliament that CCTV cameras have been installed in land offices nationwide to strictly control the activities of brokers. This measure aims to reduce direct contact between service seekers and officials, making the service process more open, transparent, and technology-driven. Services like mutation, land development tax, e-parcha, and map systems are being digitized. The minister also reported that approximately 39.43% of land-related disputes were resolved through alternative dispute resolution methods in the 2024-25 fiscal year. Additionally, strict penalties, including imprisonment and fines, are in place for offenses related to cutting agricultural land soil or unauthorized soil extraction for commercial purposes.

The implementation of CCTV surveillance in land offices aims to enhance transparency and curb corruption in land services across Bangladesh.
