The EU's chief diplomat, Kaja Kallas, expressed hope for the swift approval of the 21st package of sanctions against Russia ahead of an EU leaders' summit. Kallas indicated that Ukraine would be a primary topic of discussion during the summit. She stated that the proposed sanctions package is currently on the table and emphasized the need for accelerated progress in its adoption, aligning with Ukraine's long-range strike capabilities. Kallas believes that increased pressure on Russia is essential. Earlier in June, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen presented the 21st sanctions package, which includes proposals such as barring former Russian combatants who fought against Ukraine from entering the EU.
