Former MP Liljana Poposka has sent an urgent request to the Constitutional Court of North Macedonia, seeking to accelerate the review of her initiative concerning the protocol signed with Bulgaria. The protocol, stemming from the second meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, was signed in Sofia on July 17, 2022. Poposka notes that the court decided to initiate proceedings nearly a year ago but has yet to schedule a public hearing or issue a final decision, exceeding procedural deadlines. She argues the protocol violates the Constitution and relevant laws, urging its annulment. Poposka contends the protocol oversteps the scope of the Good Neighborliness Agreement and impacts identity issues, language, and history, potentially hindering North Macedonia's EU integration.
