Hantavirus Quarantine Lifted for Most Passengers Aboard Ship Docked in Rotterdam

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that nearly all passengers and crew from the MV Hondius have been cleared to leave quarantine. The ship arrived in Rotterdam on May 18th after a hantavirus outbreak was detected. Three deaths linked to the virus were reported in April among individuals aboard the cruise vessel. The quarantine measures were put in place to monitor and prevent further spread of the disease. This decision allows the individuals to return to their homes. The situation highlights the importance of rapid response to infectious disease outbreaks on vessels.
