Former Brahmanbaria MP Harun-Al-Rashid passes away at 87

Harun-Al-Rashid, a former state minister and five-term Member of Parliament from Brahmanbaria-3 constituency, has passed away at the age of 87. He died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka. Rashid, who also served as a vice-chairman of the BNP's executive committee, had been suffering from age-related ailments for some time. He was elected to parliament for the first time in 1979 and subsequently won multiple elections. He held various ministerial portfolios, including Minister of Shipping, Relief, Disaster Management and Relief, and Labour and Employment. His funeral prayers are scheduled to be held at the National Parliament House and the BNP party office, with further arrangements to be made upon the arrival of his sons from Canada.

The passing of Harun-Al-Rashid marks the loss of a prominent political figure with a long career in Bangladesh's national assembly and government.
