The Zangmu Hydropower Station, located on the Yarlung Tsangpo River in Tibet and designed and constructed by China Power Construction Corporation (PowerChina), has successfully passed its completion acceptance. This marks a significant milestone as it is the first large-scale hydropower project in Tibet to undergo and pass such an evaluation. The Zangmu station is the first major hydropower facility planned for the main stream of the Yarlung Tsangpo River, boasting an installed capacity of 510 megawatts and a maximum dam height of 116 meters. It was also identified as one of the key projects during Tibet's '11th Five-Year Plan' period. Its completion represents a major leap in Tibet's power construction capabilities, transitioning from the 100-megawatt class to the 500-megawatt class. The project is expected to contribute significantly to the region's energy supply and economic development.
