WhatsApp Web to Introduce Group Audio and Video Calls

Meta is set to launch group audio and video call functionality on the web version of WhatsApp. This new feature will allow users to participate in group calls directly from their browsers. Currently, the feature is available to a limited number of beta testers. WhatsApp has announced that both group audio and video calls on the web version will support up to 32 participants, mirroring the current limit on mobile and desktop versions. The update will reportedly display a call button above group chats, enabling users to initiate voice or video calls. Users can also choose to invite specific members rather than the entire group. For security, all group calls will be protected by Signal Protocol-based end-to-end encryption. Additionally, the feature will include the ability to create call links for invitations and a 'waiting room' for call control. Screen sharing will also be available during video calls.

The introduction of group calls on WhatsApp Web will significantly enhance its utility for remote collaboration and communication directly from a browser.
