Windows NT 3.51/4.0 Ported to GameCube, Enabling Native OS Installation
Merveilleux
A group of enthusiasts has successfully ported Microsoft's Windows NT 3.51 or 4.0 operating system to the Nintendo GameCube. This is not emulation; it's a native port utilizing the console's PowerPC processor. The project, called 'entii-for-workcubes', also supports the Wii and Wii Mini. The process involves loading an NT ISO via Swiss or the Homebrew Channel. While functional, the port has limitations, including no network or sound support, and slow disk access due to the EXI bus. Input methods are also challenging, often requiring workarounds or rare peripherals. This hack revives old PowerPC binaries of Windows NT, demonstrating a unique fusion of retro gaming hardware and legacy operating systems.
This technical feat allows users to install and run a native version of Windows NT on a GameCube, showcasing the versatility of older hardware and operating systems.
