The Tanzanian government has reiterated its call for employers to adhere to new minimum wage regulations for domestic workers. During International Domestic Workers' Day commemorations in Mwanza, organizations like Wote Sawa urged full implementation of the revised pay scales, which vary based on whether workers live in or out of the employer's home, and differ for those employed by public officials or diplomats. The directive also mandates that domestic workers receive standard employment benefits, including annual leave, rest days, and social security contributions. Challenges such as the lack of national identity cards and formal contracts were highlighted, prompting calls for improved facilitation of NIDA card issuance. Wote Sawa has been active in raising awareness and supporting over 10,000 domestic workers.

This reminder is essential for ensuring fair labor practices and protecting the rights of domestic workers, promoting economic justice and compliance with labor laws.
