North Macedonia's Ministry of Health is planning a comprehensive digitalization of the healthcare system, aiming to improve emergency services and patient data control. Minister Azis Aliu announced that patients will soon be able to track emergency vehicles in real-time via mobile phones and monitor surgery waiting lists. A key feature will allow individuals to control who accesses their health data, enhancing privacy and security. This initiative follows a recent incident where a hospital employee misused patient financial information. The new system intends to significantly reduce emergency response times, which currently can reach up to 40 minutes in some cases, compared to 7-8 minutes in Slovenia. A digital portal will also provide transparency on surgery waiting lists.
This digital transformation of North Macedonia's healthcare system promises to significantly improve emergency response efficiency and empower patients with greater control over their personal health data.
