Critical BootROM Vulnerability Affects Older iPhones, Unpatchable via Software Updates
Araştırmacılar, A12 ve A13 işlemcili iPhone modellerini etkileyen usbliter8 adlı yeni bir BootROM açığını duyurdu. Donanım seviyesindeki bu açık yazılım güncellemesiyle kapatılamıyor.
Researchers have identified a new hardware-level vulnerability, dubbed 'usbliter8', affecting iPhone models equipped with A12 and A13 processors. This exploit targets the BootROM, a fundamental component of the device's startup process. Crucially, the vulnerability cannot be rectified through standard software updates, leaving affected devices potentially exposed. The discovery raises concerns about the long-term security of older iPhone models, as hardware-based exploits are typically more difficult to mitigate. Apple has yet to issue a public statement or a definitive solution for this persistent flaw.
This hardware-level vulnerability poses a significant security risk to millions of older iPhone users, as it cannot be fixed through software updates, potentially leaving devices permanently vulnerable.
