Foreign Minister Urges Stronger Global Action for Rohingya Repatriation to Myanmar

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam has called for more robust global efforts to ensure the safe and voluntary repatriation of Rohingya refugees to Myanmar. Speaking at a high-level panel discussion at the UN Headquarters in New York, she emphasized the importance of protecting civilians, upholding international humanitarian law, and ensuring accountability for violations. Islam also highlighted the growing issue of technology-enabled harassment against women and girls, advocating for a global platform to combat such threats. She expressed deep concern over the funding crisis affecting Rohingya women and girls and stressed the need for sustained international cooperation for a durable solution. The State Minister reiterated Bangladesh's position that the only sustainable solution is the safe, voluntary, and dignified return of the displaced Myanmar nationals to their homeland.
