Waymo Recalls Nearly 3,900 Robotaxis for Unsafely Entering Construction Zones

Google's self-driving car unit, Waymo, is recalling approximately 3,900 of its robotaxis in the United States due to issues with recognizing and responding to construction zones. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported thirteen instances where Waymo vehicles entered construction areas on highways and in cities without authorization. In response, Waymo initiated the recall to address the software or sensor malfunction that led to these incidents, ensuring the safety and reliability of its autonomous fleet.
