Athens Metro: 149.5 Million Euros for Modernization and Air Conditioning Installation
149,5 εκατ. ευρώ θα επενδυθούν για την αναβάθμιση και τον εκσυγχρονισμό των συρμών του Μετρό Αθήνας , σύμφωνα με κοινή ανακοίνωση των Υπουργείων Εθνικής Οικονομίας και Οικονομικών και Υποδομών και Μεταφορών . The Athens Metro will receive an investment of 149.5 million euros for the upgrade and modernization of its trains, specifically for Lines 2 and 3. This funding, allocated through the ESPA Transport Program 2021-2027, will cover the refurbishment of twelve train sets and the installation of modern air conditioning systems. Additionally, four traction substations on Line 2 will be renovated with energy recovery systems. The project aims to enhance passenger experience, promote public transport use, and improve energy efficiency.
This significant investment promises to improve the commuting experience for thousands of Athenians and contribute to a more sustainable urban transport system.
