Thessaloniki Court Convicts One, Acquits Two in Case of Forest Fire

A court in Thessaloniki has convicted one individual and acquitted two others in connection with a forest fire that destroyed 22 acres of woodland between Filyro and Pefka. The three men, part of a road construction crew, were accused of negligence leading to the fire, reportedly caused by sparks from a metal cutting tool. The court sentenced the grinder operator to a two-month suspended prison term, while the other two, including the project supervisor, were found not guilty. Firefighting forces successfully contained the blaze before it reached residential areas.
