Iran's Strait of Hormuz administration has announced new transit procedures for vessels navigating the strategic waterway, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington. Ships intending to pass through the strait must now submit transit applications via official channels, including the administration's website and email, at least 48 hours in advance. The directives, issued after the US-Iran agreement, state that during a 60-day period, costs for security, safety, and environmental services, along with associated Iranian insurance, will be covered by the Iranian government. Vessels are also required to coordinate planned routes and transit times due to potential mine risks. Non-compliance will result in the shipowners bearing responsibility.
