Former Football Federation President Ilcho Gjorgioski Detained for 30 Days Amid Financial Crime Probe

Ilcho Gjorgioski, the former president of the Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM), has been ordered into 30 days of detention following a court's acceptance of the Public Prosecutor's request. Gjorgioski was arrested earlier for alleged financial irregularities during his tenure from 2015 to 2019, involving nearly three million euros. Olga Mladenovska, head of the FFM's finance department during Gjorgioski's presidency, also received a 30-day detention order. The investigation involves multiple individuals and entities suspected of embezzlement exceeding 180 million denars. Searches were conducted at various locations, leading to the arrest of 12 people, while five remain at large. This action follows a multi-year preliminary investigation into financial crimes within the FFM.
The detention of the former FFM president signals a significant development in a large-scale investigation into alleged financial crimes within the football federation.
